These positions are contingent on funding from the Government of Canada Summer Jobs Grant which requires that the successful candidate be a young person aged 15 to 30 years. The successful candidate will be required to follow our covid-19 safety plan and complete training necessary for the position.

Vineyard Worker

Valley of the Springs Winery in Nakusp is looking to hire a seasonal vineyard labourer to start as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will have a positive can-do attitude, with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn. They will be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs easily and work long days outside. Previous work experience in agriculture or landscaping would be an asset but is not required.

The general duties for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Weeding, mowing, and raking the vineyard, gardens, and grounds
  • Landscaping duties
  • Vineyard maintenance including tying shoots, pruning, and planting; and
  • Helping harvest and process grapes in the harvest season (September – October).

There are plenty of opportunities for learning and growth for the right person including in vineyard management, or winery operations.

Winery Assistant

The successful candidate will have a positive can-do attitude, with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn. The duties of the position will be varied and diverse. The Winery Assistant must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be required to follow our covid-19 safety plan and complete training necessary for the position.

The general duties for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Customer service and sales duties including providing samples in the tasting room and processing orders;
  • Greeting customers to both the winery tasting room and the guest room;
  • Cleaning including the tasting room, washrooms, and guest room as per the covid-19 safety plan;
  • Assisting with the Saturday Farmers Market stand including set up and sales;
  • Helping prepare for and run special events including cleaning, prepping, and serving;
  • Some administrative duties which could include social media, website maintenance, creating and updating documents and preparing reports; and
  • Assisting with maintenance of the property including watering, weeding, and some basic vineyard work when the tasting room is not busy.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service skills,
  • Experience in the service industry would be an asset,
  • Serving It Right certificate and ability to sell alcohol required (can be completed online in a few hours),
  • Knowledge of, interest in, or training in the wine industry would be a strong asset,
  • Sales and marketing experience would be an asset,
  • A valid driver license and a reliable vehicle
